Historic Spanish Club Come to Köpenick:
Union to Welcome Espanyol and Play Friendly Against Fürth
The next friendly opponents for 1. FC Union Berlin’s men's team have been confirmed.
As part of their training camp, the Ironers will face second division side SpVgg Greuther Fürth at Sportpark Ronhof on Saturday, 26 July 2025 at 2 p.m. Tickets for the away game will be available online at Union-Zeughaus starting Monday, 7 July.
Another test match is also planned as part of the Union pros' summer training camp, which will take place at adidas Homeground for the first time. More information will follow shortly.
A week later, on 2 August 2025, Union will welcome Barcelona’s first division side RCD Espanyol to the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. Kick-off against the Catalans is at 15.30. Advance ticket sales for Union members will start tomorrow, Tuesday, at 10:00.
SpVgg Greuther Fürth, currently in the second division, were founded in 1903 and are one of the historic names in German football, having won the German championship three times in the early days of the competition. Based at the Sportpark Ronhof, the Franconians are an established team in the 2. Liga and have been promoted to the Bundesliga several times in recent years.
Espanyol, currently fourteenth in LaLiga, are also one of the most traditional clubs in Spain. Founded in 1900, the Barcelona-based club - known by the nickname ‘Los Pericos’ (The Parrots) - are renowned for their strong youth development and passionate fan support, not only in their home region of Catalonia.
