Forward Elli Seiro is leaving 1. FC Union Berlin's women's team and is transferring to the Austrian double winners SKN St. Pölten.

First Experience Abroad

Elli Seiro transferred from FC Honka to 1. FC Union Berlin half a year ago. For the Finnish then 19-year-old, it was the first step abroad.

During the last half of the season, Seiro made five appearances in the 2. Bundesliga, contributing to Union's promotion to the Bundesliga.

Views on the Transfer

“I felt very comfortable in Berlin over the last half year and wore the Union shirt with pride," said Seiro on her signing. "My time here has been very beautiful, and I've met great people. Especially the promotion to the Bundesliga and the last game in front of more than 20,000 spectators are highlights that I will never forget. Now, for my personal development, it is important that I will play more.”

Jennifer Zietz, director of women’s professional football at 1. FC Union Berlin had this to say: “Elli came to us last winter as a very young player and gained her first experience abroad here. Since playing time is crucial for her development, we support this step. We wish her all the best in her sporting and private life.”
