Familiar leadership, fresh impulses:
Captain and team council named for the new season
As part of the training camp in Herzogenaurach, the professional men's team of 1. FC Union Berlin has appointed its captain and the team council for the 2025/26 season.
While the captaincy question has been answered with an experienced leader, there are new faces in the team council.
Captain
Christopher Trimmel remains the captain of the Eisernen and is thus entering his eighth season as team captain. With his experience and tireless commitment, the 38-year-old leads the team into the 2025/26 season.
New this season is that Christopher Trimmel and his colleagues from the team council will decide situationally who takes on the armband in a representative capacity.
Team Council
In addition to the captain, Rani Khedira, Frederik Rönnow, and Danilho Doekhi again represent the team in the team council this season. New members elected to the body are Leopold Querfeld and Janik Haberer.
The six-member team serves as a link between the team, coaching staff, and club management, organizes internal processes, and takes responsibility for the camaraderie within the dressing room.
