Goals and Control in First Game of Pre-Season
Union's Women Beat Turbine Potsdam 6-2
The women’s team of 1. FC Union Berlin had a successful first Friendly in Oranienburg, beating the 2. Liga's 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam 6-2. Marie-Louise Eta's team were excellent, despite the many changes. An intense second half followed a high-scoring first 45 minutes that saw five Union goals.

Union's debutant, leela Egli, scored with her third touch; the first two had come as she controlled the ball and moved it on to stab home for the opener on a gorgeous day in Oranienburg in front of over 500 fans.
There were many more highlights - Lia Kamber's shot from range and Nele Bauereisen's towering header among them - but the shine was taken a little off after Hannah Eurlings forced substitution, just moments after she had scored her own superb goal.
But the win was deserved, and Marie-Louise Eta's side looked flexible, fluid and dangerous in her first game in charge.

“It was very nice to be back on the pitch today. It has been six months since the last match. The first Friendly overall after such a long summer break went well. Of course, we still need to work on some things, but we have found our rhythm and got into it well."

“Fundamentally, a win at the start is always good and we saw great goals. It is clear that not everything works perfectly in the first friendly, but we can take a lot from the game for the coming weeks. We had good phases in the match, moved quickly, and created good scoring opportunities. That is what we want to keep at.”
Outlook for the coming week:
On Saturday, the 18th of July, Union’s women will continue to test at the tournament at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld in Jena. At 16:00, the team will face Sparta Prague, followed by a duel with Bundesliga relegated side Carl Zeiss Jena at 17:30. Each match is scheduled for 60 minutes.
